After Surgery?
recovery will follow this general timeline:
Within the first week:
♦the swelling will reach its peak.
♦the outer stitches dissolve toward the end of the first week.
♦you may return to non-strenuous work after the first week.
♦you will wear your compression garment at all times, for the first week.
After several weeks:
♦you can discontinue wearing the compression garment after the first week.
♦bruises will fade and eventually disappear in the second week.
♦areas that felt numb will begin to regain normal sensation.
♦you may resume your normal exercise activities after 4 weeks.
♦swelling will gradually subside.
After several months:
♦while you will have a good idea of what to expect from the results of
your liposuction by 6 weeks after surgery when the majority of swelling has
subsided, there will be ongoing changes for several months, with continued
decrease in swelling.
